I cannot send email / Connections to SMTP are blocked

Many ISP's and corporate network providers will no longer permit you to use standard SMTP settings on port 25.

However, VIRTBIZ fully support port 587 submission with all web hosting accounts.  In fact, according to the relevant standard, port 587 is the preferred port for mail submission.  With a simple settings change to your email software, you can again send email as normal.

To set up Microsoft Outlook Express:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook Express
  2. Go to Tools > Accounts
  3. Click the Mail tab to open a list of your mail accounts
  4. Double click the account that has the problem
  5. Click the Advanced tab
  6. Change "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" from 25 to 587
  7. Click OK and Close
  8. You should be able to send mail
