We have been notified by one of our network carriers, Cogent Communications, of planned network maintenance on their equipment.  Between Midnight – 1:00am Central Time on April 24, Cogent will be performing system upgrades on their border and edge routers.  This activity will cause the Cogent network to be unavailable to users during that time.

In conjunction with Cogent’s work, VIRTBIZ technicians will take the opportunity to upgrade firmware fiber interconnection nodes at DAL1 and DTX-901 as recommended by a manufacturer service bulletin.  According to the manufacturer’s instructions, the firmware upgrade will cause a brief interruption in service between facilities.  Since Cogent’s entry to our network is at DTX901, performing work at this time will consolidate 2 interruptions into a single window.

Minimizing impact to our customers is of key importance.  We believe that this maintenance will be seamless and most customers will not see an impact to their operations or network visibility.  Customers who are served at remote sites by a provider that employs extended route caching may experience periods of being unable to connect to hosted assets.  Please be advised that while our team will do everything possible to minimize this, we are unable to take responsibility for networks outside our control.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we perform these important upgrades to our critical network infrastructure.
